August 2001/Green Island

August was time for the family to go back to the U.S. and spend time with family in both Florida and Maryland. On the first day back, Rajjina had her hands full, as Shaun broke his arm and Jay followed him into the emergency room on the next day with a smashed finger, but they both managed to recover well at the beach.  The month helped to reinforce their patriotism towards “Florida.” When people in Taiwan ask them what country they are from, they continue to say “Florida.”

Sareet stopped on a layover to visit Jon, Letty, and Anna before joining the family in time for Rowan’s second birthday.  We spent a week in Florida, and then all went up together to Maryland to see Papaji (Grandfather) and the cousins. We are all safely back in Taiwan and will keep you updated on Rowan’s first day of school and Shaun and Jay’s new-found passion for baseball, otherwise known as “Florida’s past-time.”
