We wound down 2006 in with our annual trip to Goa. Prior to doing that we did manage to see Roger Federer play James Blake in the Finals of the Masters Cup in Shanghai. This city is becoming a big-time destination for all the sports and entertainment icons. Watch out New York! Shanghai is closing in fast…… The match itself was not very exciting, as Federer dominated so thoroughly, but it was fun to see his amazing talent on the court.
It was also the season of the Christmas Concerts, and Jay is able to play a reasonable version of “When the Saints Come Marching In” on his trumpet. The boys have also reached the age where they are noticing all the fancy cars amongst other things, and they want us to stop when they see something like a stretch Hummer. Papi also experienced quality deep sea fishing (see Grouper Patrol) for the first time ever. He finally understood what the thrill is all about, even though his biggest catch of the day was a 21″ grouper, but you can only keep 22″ ones. Luckily, Randy, Rick and Jeff were better fishermen, and so we did have something to eat.
We finally made our way to Goa with Papi meeting the family a week after they got there. It was beaching, eating, fishing, shopping and scootering around town. Meme, Grandma, Lata Tatee, Amy, Ann and Uma were also there. There was the added adventure this year of shopping for Amy’s Summer Wedding. It’s hard to believe that Sareet’s niece, who was born as he was about to enter college is actually getting married. We are all getting older. The other news of note is that Shaun got his braces, which is an attest to the greatest marketing story of all time, orthodontics.
Keep in Touch,
The Majumdars
