May-June 2006/Taiwan

June 26th, 2006 Posted in 2006, Taiwan

We had the opportunity to return to Taipei for a Soccer tournament, and it was very interesting for us. After living in Shanghai for 2 years, Taipei seemed a lot smaller, more quaint and less cosmopolitan that we had remembered it. It was still great to visit old friends, and it was fun for Shaun and Jay to play against their old teammates (They lost 1-0 to the Taipei team). Shaun had to play goal due as the emergency back-up, which was a bit tough on the parents, especially as one of the games went to a penalty shoot out. Rowan enjoyed the weekend with his old buddy Evan; they were as thick as thieves.

We returned to Shanghai, celebrated Jay’s birthday and hosted a long overdue house warming party with an Arabian night theme. Shaun finished out the school year by playing basketball for his school team. Jay is looking forward to entering Middle School next year, where he can participate on the various sports teams. As the school year ended, the family headed back to Florida for most of the Summer.

Sareet went back with the family and enjoyed a week of vacation, taking in the beautiful beaches, playing Par 3 golf and watching World Cup games with the boys, having fun on his partner’s new boat. He missed his 25th High School Reunion by a week, but he was still able to catch up with a few of his old classmates. The kids kept themselves busy with a mix of soccer camps, street hockey (see video) outside Grandma’s house, skating and golf lessons. Shaun also took a math class at his future school. The busiest person was Rajjina, who went from no driving for the past 9 months to shuttling three kids all around town for 6 weeks. Welcome to the life of a Soccer Mom in America! Sareet went back to Shanghai, worked long days with no one to come back to and played golf most weekends, but it gets a bit lonely, and he is looking forward to seeing the family again in August, when he returns to New York to bring them back.

Keep in Touch,

The Majumdars
