Jan/Feb 2004/Hakuba

February 26th, 2004 Posted in 2004, Hakuba

The Majumdar clan spent a second consecutive Chinese New Years in Hakuba (Nagano, Japan) skiing. Rowan made a full recovery from the broken leg he suffered in 2003 and became the most enthusiastic skiier in the family (see video). By week’s end, he was skiing with all of us down the intermediate runs. He also played in his first soccer league, the kind of league where most kids are more interested in the growth of the grass rather than the flight of the ball. It was an exercise in extreme patience for Papi and his co-coach Tim.

In January and February, Shaun kept busy with his school play, soccer and scouts. He was given a major part of Clayton, the Taipei Times reporter, only one week prior to the play and pulled it off nicely. Thankfully, his new-found acting ability has not yet translated to diving in the penalty box. It seems like he spends every waking moment working on legitimate soccer skills.

Jay also enjoyed the skiing and was especially fond of the Japanese cuisine including his favorite Miso soup. Jay loved dressing up for the school Carnival (Mardi Gras celebration) and his soccer team, the Rangers, went undefeated and won the TYPA Minor championship. Jay was also an active in his Wolf scout den and is looking forward to the Pinewood Derby next month.

Keep in Touch,

The Majumdars
