Nov-Dec 2009/CT and ST. MARTIN, WEST INDIES

We wish all of our friends and family a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2010.

The family went on our annual Thanksgiving trip to visit Rajjina’s brothers in NYC and Connecticut. The cousins re-connected with 2 of the 7 now in college.   It won’t be long before Sarah and Shaun are also off to college.  We all gathered at Ranjit’s house for Thanksgiving, and it was a very restful and enjoyable reunion. We plan to break the tradition next year and host the Thanksgiving festivities in Florida.

We returned from up North in time to meet a few of Sareet’s High School buddies. In fact (see Durango Redux) were the group of 4 that went skiing together at Purgatory in Durango, CO exactly 30 years ago.   We were kept busy with Jay’s Club and JV soccer, Rowan’s club soccer and his new passion, the school Robotics team.  Now that is an interesting new twist to the parent fan club activities.  We go to an all day Robotics event to watch our son place a pre-programmed Lego robot onto an obstacle course and watch that robot complete tasks for a minute or so.

For the Christmas holidays, we met Rajjina’s brother Anil and family in St. Martin.  This is a tropical island  in the West Indies 300 km west of Puerto Rico that is split down the center between France and Holland.   We stayed on the French side, where we spent the days on the beach.  We also enjoyed wonderful French cuisine, daily dives for Shaun and Papi, and a full day sailing/fishing/beach exploration trip to Antigua and back.   The combination of cuisine, historical landmarks, weather and beaches made this a very unique spot in the Caribbean.
