We were busy winding down the school year and getting ready for an eventful Summer. Jay followed in his brother’s footsteps by being inducted into the NJHS and celebrated his 13th birthday in the same month. Rowan actually baked a cake for his brother and continues to demonstrate promising potential as a up and coming pastry chef. We also celebrated Lata Tatee’s 60th birthday in May.
After exams, the boys all spent some time relaxing on the beach before the camp schedule began. Jay and Rowan visited their friends in Upstate New York and spent a couple of weeks wakeboarding, making pizzas (at their friends’ restaurant), with Jay and his friend Miller going to Tech Camp. Shaun went half way around the world to his Chinese Camp in Dali, China’s version of Boulder, CO. He met his friend Brett from Shanghai and studied Chinese and did community service with other American High School students, who were also there studying Chinese. They all loved the camp (www.rusticpathways.com), and Shaun is trying to convince us to send him back to China again this Summer. The only part they did not seem to like was the “true” community service, where they spent a week clearing a creek by removing rocks and carrying them up a hill to the village in woven baskets.
We have finally decided to build our new house closer to the School and Papi’s work. We will be updating you more as this progresses.
Keep in Touch!
