January/February 2005/Shanghai

February 26th, 2005 Posted in 2005, Shanghai

The New Year rang in a new challenge for Rajjina. She is busy trying to get our new house renovated by the first of June. Her challenge is to work with a Chinese construction crew in trying to restore an art deco house in the center of Shanghai’s French Concessionary area. Talk about taking on a New Year’s Resolution.

We also took our now annual trip over Chinese New Years to Nagano in Japan, and it was Jay’s turn to pass Papi on the slopes this year (see video). Thankfully, Rowan still has fun skiing with Mom and Dad. We met many of our friends from Taiwan in Japan; the boys had fun skiing with Massimo, Gianluca, Nikhil, Jacob and Tobias.

When we returned to Shanghai, Shaun continued playing for his International Soccer Team. Papi helped to organize a tournament that brought in teams from Hong Kong, Beijing and even Shaun’s old friends from Taiwan. Shaun’s AKSIL team came in 4th in the 8 team tournament, just one place ahead of the Taiwan team. They will return next year to Taiwan to play a tournament there.

As the weather begins to change in Spring, we expect to see many of our friends and family visiting us. Shanghai is definitely a popular tourist destination that warrants visiting for its ever expanding skyline, its old Chinese charm amidst the modern urban development. Hope to see many of you here soon.

Keep in Touch,

The Majumdars
