July/August 2004/Western Canada-NYC

August 26th, 2004 Posted in 2004, Western Canada-NYC

The Majumdars followed the very familiar Summer drill, except the break was a bit shorter, since Shaun and Jay are switching from the British to the American school calendar. Rajjina and the boys went to Florida and spent six weeks swimming, playing soccer, visiting cousins and old friends. Papi went on a quick dive trip in the Phillipines and met the family for a two week vacation in New York and Canada, before coming back to set up in Shanghai.

We had a great time in New York visiting cousins Ana and Tanya. The kids saw the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and they especially enjoyed the live Frog exhibit at the Natural History Museum and even got to see the Lion King on Broadway.

We also stopped on our way back in Western Canada and drove from Calgary to Vancouver, where the scenery was breath-taking, and the wildlife abundant. We stopped for a few days in Golden, British Columbia on the B.C- Alberta border, where we are eventually planning to build a ski house. It looks like Kicking Horse Resort and Golden will become a place for many future family adventures. On our way to Vancouver, we stopped at Lake Okanagan, where Papi played Par 3 Golf with Shaun and Jay and friends Tom and Cory. Papi even was lucky enough to have a hole-in-one. The lucky part was that it did not happen in Taiwan, where the tradition is to pay for a Round of Golf for all.

We are now back in Shanghai settling in. More details will follow, as we get set up here. Hope to see you all here during our stint here.

Keep in Touch,

The Majumdars
