May-June, 2010/ FL & CT

The boys closed out the school year, and it was a momentous one, as both Rowan and Jay moved up from Lower and Middle School to Middle and Upper School respectively.  They both went through graduation and awards ceremonies.  Rowan was honored with an academic achievement award, which was a surprise to both him and his parents.   Jay was given a Coach’s award for Cross Country and an MVP award for JV soccer.  They are looking forward to the challenges of moving up to the next level.

Sareet went up North for his college reunion and to play some golf at some of the most interesting courses in the NY/CT area (Winged Foot, Trump, Yale).  The reunion was interesting.   Yale has change immensely in 25 years, even more than the graduates have.  It was great to catch up with friends he had not seen in 25 years.  If the campus was that nice back then, we may have never left.  While we all get older and a bit worn, the University gets newer and more expansive.   New Haven is no longer a misnomer.

Sareet’s partner Michael and his wife Soledad had a new baby, Sophia.   With teenagers in tow, it is amazing to see again how small and delicate we all were at one time.  After the school year ended, Shaun continued his Mandarin Studies by returning to Dali in Yunnan province in China.   He re-connected with friends from last year’s program and has now passed his Dad and Mom in written if not spoken Mandarin.   He looks forward to returning to China again next Summer, hopefully trying to work there for the Summer.

Keep in Touch,

The Majumdars
