Jan-Feb 2008/Puerto Rico

February 28th, 2008 Posted in 2008, Florida, Puerto Rico

It’s been 9 years since we experienced a winter in Florida, and we now are reminded why so many Snowbirds come down here……. It’s to see the Union win Civil War re-enactment battles.   We went to a major Civil War Re-enactment Battle in Brooksville, Florida, and it was quite amazing to see people who devote all their extra time and money to re-create the entire feeling of that era.   The boys were able to meet Abe Lincoln himself and learned a lot about the nature of the battles, efficacy of Morse Code, and the organization of the encampments.  It was a very interesting experience.

February was also time to celebrate Anil’s 50th birthday over the President’s Day holiday, and the family decided to do it in Puerto Rico at the El Conquistador Resort.  It was a fantastic family reunion, as Rajjina saw her brothers, and the cousins had a great time at the water park there.   We also took a quick walking tour of Old San Juan that was very reminiscent of other colonial port cities like Penang, Macau, Galle and Goa, that we had visited in Asia.  When, we returned, life was back to normal- school and soccer.

Keep in Touch!
